Earplugs may reduce problems for patients

A new study finds intensive care patients can improve their sleep, reduce their confusion and delay the onset of delirium.

It's believed sensory overload can lead to confusion and delirium in ICU patients. Also, research has shown these patients tend to have fragmented sleep because of the steady noise in the ICU.

The research appeared in 'The Journal Critical Care.'
