Chicago teachers to rally Wednesday

On Wednesday, union leaders said there has been talk of a longer school day, but there's no funding for it. The union also claims school officials have money to open more charter schools, but not enough funding for libraries.

The teachers say they will march to school board headquarters on Wednesday.

"We are not meeting tomorrow to take a strike authorization vote. I know there's been some talk of that. But we are meeting tomorrow to show you the breadth and depth of the sentiment inside our membership," a CTU spokesperson said.

Chicago Public Schools released a statement Tuesday, "We support providing all of our teachers with a raise and fairly compensating them as they are charged with the most important work of all in educating our children."
