Protesters arrested outside Chicago Board of Trade

May 23, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Seniors, people with disabilities and healthcare workers formed a human barrier in front of the building. Many were arrested when they wouldn't leave their spot on the street.

The annual meeting of shareholders is taking place at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Wednesday afternoon.

The protesters are staging a day-long series of demonstrations against the parent company of the CME for state tax breaks it receives.

The protesters claim the breaks are resulting in less money for state-provided social services.
