The Coast Guard in northwest Indiana suspended a search Wednesday for a plane that possibly went down in Lake Michigan or nearby Wolf Lake along the Illinois-Indiana border late Tuesday night.

There were reports of a single-engine plane crashing into the lake. A CB radio listener reported hearing a pilot call for help.

The search was conducted near the Hammond-Gary Harbor.

The radio listener says the pilot said he was going down and was going to try landing on the water.

The FAA said it had no reports of a plane going down.
