The grand slam party at Rockit in River North was a fundraiser for the "Bring Me Home" campaign. Konerko is one of the founders of the event, which raises money for foster children and families served by "children's home and aid."
It's a cause close to Konerko's heart.
"It's a great thing," Konerko said. "My wife, whether some people know or not, her family has four adopted siblings, and they've fostered numerous kids. I've seen how this can work up close, seen how many great things it can do. That's why I'm behind it."
In its first five years, the "Bring Me Home" campaign has raised more than $350,000.
