The incident happened just after 4 a.m. Thursday morning in a gangway near Waveland and Halsted.
A neighborhood resident tells ABC7 he heard a woman screaming and interrupted the assault when he went outside to investigate. He reportedly tried to chase down the attacker but couldn't reach him.
