Air freshener blamed for Southwest flight attendant's illness

A flight attendant became ill aboard a plane bound for Chicago Thursday, prompting an investigation by hazardous materials crews in Maryland.

Southwest Flight 709 took off from Norfolk, Virginia, Thursday afternoon and landed at Baltimore-Washington International Airport without incident.

Authorities determined that "air freshener" was the unknown substance.

The flight attendant was taken to a hospital for treatment.
