CHA allows Lathrop Homes residents to stay during upgrades

July 20, 2012 (CHICAGO) Advocates and residents of a North Side public housing project held a rally to call on the Chicago Housing Authority to keep its promise to allow them to stay in their homes during an upcoming revitalization. About 170 families remain at Lathrop Homes. On Friday afternoon, CHA announced that residents will indeed be allowed to stay during upgrades next year. However, CHA officials say the resident relocation rights contract specifically provides for relocations in the event of an emergency or for safety or security reasons.
