Some Sauk Village residents held another protest Friday morning over tainted water in that south suburb.

Residents collected free bottled water from village officials Friday.

Thursday night, Sauk Village Mayor Lewis Towers said the Illinois EPA has told him that while the water supply is contaminated with the carcinogen vinyl chloride, it is still safe to drink.

The council voted in favor of a process called air stripping to purify the water as a temporary solution.
