$5,000 reward for Chicago cat missing in California

July 25, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The Fosco family says Ivy has been missing since July 17. Ivy is no ordinary house cat, the 1-year-old is a rare breed known as a Savannah, which is a cross between a domestic cat and a serval, an African cat about the size of a bobcat.

Ivy is worth about $15,000.

The family says the exotic cat was with their son visiting a friend in California when he somehow he managed to get outside.

They are now offering $5,000 for its safe return. The Foscos have hired a pet search and rescue team -- that includes bloodhounds -- to help find the cat.
