The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency plans to start purification efforts Monday on contaminated water in south suburban Sauk Village.

Crews plan to work on two wells through Thursday, after tests showed higher-than-expected vinyl chloride levels.

The chemical can cause cancer.

Meanwhile, a new court order requires Sauk Village to continue giving bottled water to residents who request it.
