Jesse Jackson Jr.'s wife calls his depression 'debilitating'

August 4, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Alderman Sandi Jackson told the Chicago Sun-Times that her husband did not attempt suicide.

She also said he was not being treated for alcohol or drug addiction. The congressman has been on leave since June 10.

Little was revealed about his condition until recently. He is being treated at the Mayo Clinic for depression and gastrointestinal issues.

Jackson's wife suggested that his depression might be linked to his weight loss surgery.
