A community came together on Chicago's West Side on Sunday in a new effort to stop the violence.

A group led by Alderman Emma Mitts staged a peace rally near Central and Hirch.

They're asking for people to break their code of silence and report crimes that happen in their neighborhoods.

Many of the marchers wore black to mourn with the families who lost loved ones this summer.
