Man walks from Rockford to Evanston for non-profit

August 13, 2012 (EVANSTON, Ill.)

CJ Campbell has cerebral palsy, but despite his disease, he is walking 70 miles to get the word out about the Over the Rainbow Association.

Campbell credits the organization with helping him achieve independence in his life.

During his walk, Campbell has encountered some challenges that have nothing to do with cerebral palsy.

"These people are like, 'Oh, this guy is ruining my morning commute by being on the road,' and I had a lot of people yelling and swearing at me, which was great," said Campbell. "It's OK, because when they see this, they're going to feel like total jerks."

Campbell's journey is scheduled to conclude on September 13 when he walks into the Over the Rainbow Association.
