Former Berwyn mailman pleads guilty to stealing mail

A former U.S. postal carrier has pleaded guilty to stealing mail that contained more than $275,000 in charity donations.

Frederick Taylor admitted Thursday that he possessed more than 29,000 pieces of First Class mail that were intended for delivery to a charity on his route in west suburban Berwyn.

The envelopes were found in Taylor's home last year They contained cash, checks, credit card payments and money orders for the unnamed charity.

Taylor faces a maximum of five years in prison.
