New Illinois law requires fines collected from DUI convictions go toward alcohol-related crime prevention and enforcement

August 22, 2012 (TINLEY PARK, Ill.)

Quinn was at a conference of the Illinois Association of Police Chiefs in suburban Tinley Park. The law will require that all fines collected from DUI convictions go to local police for alcohol-related crime prevention and enforcement.

"This law that I'm signing today will provide more resources to our police departments all across Illinois to carry out their very important duty of protecting us on the roads," Quinn said.

Quinn also signed a law making it a misdemeanor for any parent or guardian who knowingly allows minors to drink on their property.
