Work begins on new Ravenswood Metra station

September 5, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The $18 million facility will have longer, covered platforms, new ramps, stairs and landscaping.

Right now, the station serves more than 2,000 riders a day on the Union Pacific North Line.

The outbound part of the new station should be built by the fall of next year. Work on the inbound portion is expected to be wrapped up two years later.
