Even with Friday night's rain, there was still a line of loyal fans outside the flagship Apple Store on Michigan Avenue.
The iPhone 5 is thinner, lighter, bigger and faster and it's already getting a big seal of approval.
"As far as I can tell everything is great with the phone I wouldn't trade it for any other phone," said Brittney Williams.
"I think it was totally worth it," said Vinayak Jojare. "I love the phone so far. I love the new feature. I am coming from an iPhone 4, it's much faster from what I've experienced so far."
The jury is still out over Apples new mapping program.
On those maps, rivers and bridges are distorted.. Even the Statue of Liberty is nothing but a shadow.
Apple says it's making improvements.
