It happened early Saturday morning in Montgomery, about 40 miles west of Chicago.
Montgomery Police say officers were responding to a call of shots fired on the 700 block of Oakton Avenue.
A vehicle that was leaving the area struck a patrol sergeant.
The sergeant was taken to a hospital.
The driver of the car was taken into custody.
Eighteen-year-old Kendall J. Collier is charged with one count of aggravated DUI.
Police say more charges are pending.
