The Chicago Sun-Times reports Gov. Pat Quinn attended a celebration Saturday morning at Jackson's Rainbow PUSH headquarters on Chicago's South Side. Quinn says Jackson has led a "purposeful life" and "devoted his life to the service of others."
The ceremony also included a high school band and a video from the Rev. Al Sharpton, who said Jackson "has helped so many and given a voice to so many."
Stevie Wonder sang "Happy Birthday" in a video. Chicago White Sox legend Minnie Minoso sang "Happy Birthday" too and told Jackson to "keep doing it ... because we love you."
Jackson's birthday is Monday.
