New research could lead to the development of drugs targeting obesity and metabolic disorders.

Researchers at the University of Michigan have found that leptin, a hormone with a significant link to obesity, reacts with a specific receptor in the brain.

People who don't have leptin are more likely to have problems with their weight. The absence of the hormone could mean that the leptin receptor in the brain is not doing its job.
