The family of a Chicago high school student who was gunned down outside his high school on Friday said his killing was a hate crime.

Eighteen-year-old Terrance Wright was fatally shot during a robbery outside Banner Academy South High School Friday after class.

Police say that Wright was shot after fighting back, but his family says that he was targeted because he was gay.

Police are continuing their investigation.

Wright's family is hoping that they treat the killing as a hate crime.
