Study: Fasting cholesterol test may not be necessary

November 13, 2012

Scientists found the blood tests showed similar average total cholesterol and good HDL cholesterol readings regardless of whether patients had eaten recently or avoided food for more than eight hours.

The study in the Archives of Internal Medicine suggests patients discuss non-fasting cholesterol test with their doctors.
