Apartment dwellers exposed to secondhand smoke

December 14, 2012

A new federal report reveals that as many as 29 million United States apartment dwellers could be breathing in smoke seeping in from neighboring apartments and common areas.

Tim Mcafee, a director with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, says the issue needs to addressed.

Many U.S. cities are now thinking about banning smoking in apartments.

Mcafee says for now the only thing a person can do is not rent an apartment in a building where smoking is allowed.
