Kids bring in the New Year at noon

December 31, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Hundreds of parents brought the tots out for the big afternoon countdown.

Why should New Year's Eve be just for the big kids? Little ones like to get down and party, too.

"This is a fun place," said Brenda Lloyd, who brought her granddaughter, Maya, to the festivities. "Anytime the kids come they have a lot of fun."

It's a chance for kids to have their own fun, and their very own countdown just like the adults.

But first, they spend time decorating their party hats.

"I want to decorate it like a crown, like a princess crown, because everyone calls me a princess," Maya said.

After the arts and crafts, they all moved into the Great Hall for dancing.

And then the big countdown began.

No kissing here, just lots of confetti, and excited children.

For parents, it was a great way to give their kids their very own end-of-the-year experience.
