Vitamin D, calcium supplements won't reduce fracture risk in older women, experts say

That's according to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, which is an independent group of health experts.

They found that adding 400 international units of vitamin D and 100 milligrams of calcium to a healthy diet don't lower risk of fractures in post-menopausal women.

For younger women and men, the studies are too inconclusive to support regular use of supplements.
