It was too cold Sunday morning for most people to head to the beach, but a few brave souls plunged into the icy waters of Lake Michigan for charity.

At least the sun was out for the 13th Annual Chicago Polar Plunge.

Hundreds of people wore festive costumes, or very little at all, and ran into the lake at North Avenue Beach.

The annual tradition is one of the largest fundraising events for Special Olympics Chicago and this year the effort raised $1 million.
