The fall took place at 60 E. Delaware at 3 p.m. Two people were taken to Northwestern, two to Illinois Masonic. All are in stable condition.
The elevator company was on scene at the time the elevator dropped and has blocked off the elevator to the public until its determined the cause of the plunge.
Those in the elevator alled from inside, and Chicago firefighters got them out. their injuries are described as bumps and bruises.
