The festival also features authors participating in panel discussions.
The Narrative 4 committee was one of those groups who gave a panel discussion Saturday.
It was founded by authors, artists and musicians who want to tell the stories of people all across the world.
Musician Sting is an honorary member of that committee.
"At my best I write songs in other people's shoes, seeing the world through their eyes," he said. "And I think that's when I do my best work, when I stop mable-gazing and I forget about me and I get out of the way and I tell someone else's story. So coming here today was a big event for me."
Sting also did a narrative about a man who came to Chicago to try to make a life for his family.
Lit Fest also features thousands of books being sold from different genres.
It runs through Sunday.
