Report finds Illinois highways below average in efficiency

July 2, 2013 (CHICAGO)

The annual 'Reason Foundation National Highway Report' shows Illinois in 34th place overall. The report bases its findings on a wide range of factors.

Among them is Illinois' standing as the sixth highest state for overall highway fatalities and 25th in urban interstate congestion.

Illinois ranks as the 13th largest highway system overall and spends nearly twice the national average on its highways per mile.
