Witnesses saw two men running from the scene outside a gas station at 99th and Halsted Tuesday morning.
Terrance Graves, 23, was selling newspapers and fruit to drivers when he was gunned down.
His mother says he was not in a gang, but may have been involved in an argument with gang members who were trying to claim the corner.
