Illinois has a new law designed to give some protection to renters who live in buildings that are being foreclosed.

Governor Pat Quinn signed the legislation Wednesday.

Under the law, anyone who acquires a foreclosed residential property has to honor existing leases or give tenants at least ninety days to find new places to live.
