The Chicago Transit Authority is providing free rides to Chicago Public School students on their first day of school Monday.

The offer also extends to adults who accompany the students to class.

In addition to the free rides, students will be getting the new Ventra transit fare cards from their respective schools.

After Monday, CPS students pay 75 cents for CTA rides between 5:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
