"I got shot," Deonta said. "In the park."
Deonta was one of 13 people shot in the park. He was the youngest victim and most seriously injured. A bullet struck him in the ear and came out his cheek on September 19, 2013. He underwent surgery to treat the wound, but his mother, Shamarah Leggette said more surgeries are ahead.
"Eye drops, clean face two times a day, surgery next 15 years, long way to go," Leggette said.
Deonta is home with his family, ready to play the guitar and turn on the charm for the microphone.
Four suspects are charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery in the case. They remain in custody.
