Francois Englert of Belgium and Peter Higgs of Britain received the award for their discoveries on how subatomic particles acquire mass. The scientists searched for the elusive Higgs boson, or "god particle."
A professor from Purdue University-Calumet in Hammond, Ind. served on the team that discovered the sub-atomic particle.
