An autopsy determined she died from multiple combined stab and incised wounds. Her death has been ruled a homicide.
The remains were found in the 8100 block of West Chicago Avenue, according to the ME's office, which could not immediately determine the age of the deceased.
Despite being found in River Forest, Chicago police are leading the investigation, River Forest Police Chief Greg Weiss said. His department provided perimeter security.
Chicago police spokesman Adam Collins acknowledged the CPD was conducting a "death investigation," but did not immediately provide additional details.
