Tornadoes or damage reported in 12 Indiana counties, Gov. Pence says

November 17, 2013 (INDIANAPOLIS)

Pence says the cities of Washington in southwestern Indiana and Lebanon in central Indiana have sustained significant damage, but he doesn't have specific information yet.

Pence is at the Emergency Operations Center of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. He says 12 counties are reporting either tornado touchdowns or storm damage. And that's after the initial line of storms had traveled only halfway across the state. Pence says that line of storms was moving at 50-70 mph.

The National Weather Service says a tornado has damaged several houses in Washington.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Kim Riley says a teacher has been injured after the storm heavily damaged a school south of Lafayette.
