December 8, 2013

She has a song written for her and a music video. Breanna Boguski, 16, who goes by Breanna Alyssa, it is a dream come true.

After winning Special Talents America last year, she has impressed professional artists with her voice.

"I Was Born Yesterday" was written by musician and Ides of March co-founder Jim Peterik and performer Lisa McClowey.

"When I started writing the song, it was really about a love interest, like a boy and a girl, and Lisa very wisely said, 'Let's make it about her and her peer group in high school,'" Jim said.

"First of all, the whole thing to me is about being vulnerable, allowing yourself to be vulnerable, and at her age-- being 15 years old – that's one of the hardest things to do," Lisa said.

Jim and Lisa are involved with Special Talent America. It is a competition for people with developmental disabilities created by Western DuPage Special Recreation Association.

Breanna 's winning song was Taylor Swift's "Mean."

"The first time that I heard Breanna Alyssa, I knew that…Lisa and I were just blown away," said Jim.

"It's awesome because I feel like …with my autism all my life, I've been like, I don't know, but when I'm on stage, I feel like, oh, I'm on top of the world," said Breanna.

"I Was Born Yesterday" has been released, and her music video is expected out soon,

"If she becomes a star great, but it's really about showing what people can do to overcome their challenges," said Jim.

"'I Was Born Yesterday' … I just love that vulnerable quality of the song and that's she brave enough to reveal that in herself," Lisa said.

"I Was Born Yesterday" is available on iTunes. All you have to do is type "Breanna Alyssa "or the name of the song.
