'The Big Sick' tells awkward, true Chicago love story

Kumail Nanjiani is a comedian - best known for his role as Dinesh in the HBO comedy series "Silicon Valley." Did you know he has Chicago ties? He met his wife Emily V. Gordon right here in the city.

Now, Chicago plays a role in the new movie based on their courtship. "The Big Sick" is the story of how they met, fell in love and how Emily fell into a coma. It's a romantic comedy that focuses on the differences - and ultimately, the common ground that people of different cultures face when falling in love.

It premiered at Sundance and won the Audience Award as Festival Favorite at the SXSW Film festival. Its tag line is - An Awkward True Story.
