Madigan wants to fire 3,000 state workers

May 7, 2009 Madigan has introduced legislation to fire about 3,000 people who were appointed by disgraced former Governors Rod Blagojevich or George Ryan.

The workers include board members, agency directors and other appointees.

Under Madigan's plan, the appointees would keep their jobs for 60 days so a review can be conducted. Those passing the review could then be reappointed by Governor Quinn.

The governor says he supports the idea.
