Stitches may be better than staples after C-section

February 4, 2010

A new study included more than 400 women who delivered babies by C-section. Researchers found women whose wounds were closed with staples were four times as likely to have their incisions separate than those who received stitches.

Those with staples also required more post-surgery doctor visits.

The study is being presented at the annual meeting of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine in Chicago.
