Recipe Remakes: Substitutions for food allergies

Being allergic to dairy or other foods or intolerant of gluten, doesn't mean you have to give up your favorite foods. In most cases, there are ways to remake your recipes so even those with food allergies can still enjoy them.

Certified health counselor, Christina Chodos has some ideas for easy recipe remakes.

Suggestions for Substitutes for common foods:

In Place of Regular Flour: Quinoa, Brown Rice, Garbanzo Bean, or Potato Flour

In Place of Dairy: Rice or Soy Milk, Tofu (silken or firm depending on recipe) Tofutti's Dairy-Free Sour Cream

In Place of Egg: Egg Replacer, by ENER- G, Water for some baking recipes, Applesauce (Unsweetened) or Banana (Mashed)

There are many options to replace Peanut Butter: you can use Soynut Butter, Sunflower Butter, Pumpkin Seed Butter.
