Sadness leads to increased spending, study says

People spend more green when they're feeling blue. Researchers say judgment is affected when you're gloomy.

Sad people were found to be more willing to spend freely when they focused on their mood. They tended to pay more, presumably to feel better about themselves with retail therapy.

The study appears in the journal Psychological Science.
