Gary cop appears in court on misconduct charge

GARY, Ind. Thomas Houston is accused of civil rights violations - along with his Deputy Chief Thomas Branson, and Sergeant Thomas Decanter.

All three pleaded not guilty.

The charges stem from the alleged treatment of suspects involved in a break-in Houston's home last summer.

Houston retired earlier this week. Branson and Decanter were reassigned.

Their trial is scheduled to begin May 12.
