The 8th district congressional nominees debated for the second time in four days Tuesday night and disagreed on whether U.S. forces should leave Iraq. The far north suburban district includes parts of Cook, Lake and McHenry counties.

Democratic Congresswoman Melissa Bean, seeking her third term, is being challenged by Republican Steve Greenberg. He said during the WTTW--Channel 11 debate that America's military must stay in Iraq and win.

"Win is this - I think you need a protected judiciary. Make sure that they can enforce the laws, and protect the judges to enforce the laws. You need to make sure that they have free elections, where the people can have a transference of power," Greenberg said.

"As a sovereign nation, and given that the violence is predominately civil conflict, I think they should decide how to live together and work that out. And we need to redeploy our troops, bring them home and also address emerging threats around the globe," Bean said.

Both backed the federal rescue plan.
