The long lines -- and sweet scents -- have returned to Michigan Avenue. Garrett Popcorn has opened its flagship store at 625 N. Michigan Avenue.

The shop celebrated the opening by handing out free bags of its Chicago Mix popcorn-cheese and caramel to customers.

Garrett Popcorn Shops first store opened at 10 West Madison Street in 1949. Now there are nine stores in the Chicago area.

The most popular storewas on Michigan Avenue, where the line could often snake around the block, especially over the holidays, until it closed just a few years ago.
