Demolition of suburban Catholic school under way

November 15, 2010 (ADDISON, Ill.)

A crowd watched as a crane took down large chunks of the building.

The Christian brothers which ran the school decided to close it last year because of financial difficulties and declining enrollment.

A massive fundraising effort failed to save the school.

The Village of Addison purchased the land and is leasing it to Addison Trail High School, which will use it for practice fields.

A supply of bricks from the building will be set aside for people interested in souvenirs.
