An automaker plans to put wireless charging stations inside its vehicles.

General Motors will install the Powermat which allows drivers and passengers to charge phones, digital music players and Bluetooth kits without cords. The devices charge when they are placed on the mat.

GM will first put the charging mats in its electric Chevrolet Volt and plan to expand to other cars by mid 2012.
