Teams of professional artists have been working on their projects since Wednesday and must complete them by 3 p.m. Saturday.
The sculpting contest is part of the Snow Days Chicago festival which is underway in Gateway On Saturday afternoon, the public will choose the winner of the people's choice award.
The sculptors and a panel of judges will award the first, second and third place prize money.
The festival runs through Sunday.
