Boeing aircraft on space mission for US

March 6, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The United States Air Force launched the experimental space plane from Cape Canaveral, Florida Saturday. An Atlas 5 rocket blasted off with the unmanned plane, which is known as the X37B.

The plane resembles a small shuttle.

The purpose of the mission is classified, but there is speculation it could be used for military surveillance, or possibly even to fire weapons from space against an enemy.
